Mixing Wildlife with Village Cultural Experience

Before entering the national park, we ride into to the fishing village of Kampong Bako and it’s mangrove swamp to spot wild birds and collect wild fern for lunch. After lunch at a fisherman stilt house, we take a boat trip to Bako National Park for trekking and wildlife spotting, for in daylight and in total darkness at night. After a good night rest at jungle lodge inside the national park, we take an even longer trek deep into the jungle for more wildlife spotting and adventure.

This 2 days 1 night trip explores the amazing wildlife in the national park as well as letting you experiencing the unforgettable fishing village life in a traditional Kampong.

Trip Itinerary

DAY 1     Cycle in Kampong Bako (12 km) & Nature Walk in the Park

After a quick transfer from the city hotel in the morning, we reach Bako Jetty which is a departing port for Bako National Park. At the jetty, we shop at the local fishing market before carrying our bike onto a local ferry crossing into the fishing village of Kampong Bako. Visit some area which still in practice making the wooden fishing boat and drying of shrimp paste. We then ride into the mangrove swamp to spot wild birds and collect wild fern for lunch. A seafood lunch is prepared and cooked at a local fishermen’s stilt house. After lunch and a short rest, we take a boat trip to Bako National Park for an active afternoon of trekking and wildlife spotting. Our expert park guide will bring you to the best places to see the wild animal in the wild. After dinner, we take a night walk on a different trail to catch sight of breathtaking night creatures. Enjoy your first serene and peaceful jungle night in the national park’s cabin accommodation.

DAY 2     Nature Walk – Departure to Kuching

After breakfast in the park, depart for a final hike on one of the trails searching for the rare and elusive proboscis monkey, a primate only found in Borneo. After done hiking return to park canteen for our lunch and get ready to take a boat and return to Kuching in late-afternoon. (Please note schedule may depend on tide.)
